...Usually socks.
Christmas pajamas are fun too. Maybe some matching moccasins.
A cute Christmas card with kind words and a candy cane? Sign me up.
I love it all.
Personalize the shit out of it y’all. Make a box and fill it with things that remind you of me.
Again, I love it all.
I’m not someone who asks for anything or expects anything for the holidays. As cheesy as it sounds, seeing my friends and family around me smiling and laughing is a gift on its own for me. I’m good with just that.
Every year my parents ask me what I want for Christmas and I always just laugh and tell them to get me socks if they want. I really don’t care.
But this year is a little different.
Because of recent travels and spending a little too much money, my wallets are screaming and the things I would normally buy myself are a bit out of reach at the moment.
However, these are things that are not just for me, but can be bought for anyone you may know or if you’re struggling with some gift ideas for the simpler ones, here are some ideas!
A Kindle or NookBook- As you may or may not know, my collection of books have gotten a little too much for my shrinking room. I no longer have space and need to stop buying them- even though let’s face it, this is not happening. However, this is a great option for those on the go or traveling but don’t want to carry a bulk of things in their bag. I noticed that there are multiple versions so just get whichever you think might suit the person (and your wallet) best.
Bookmarks- Now this may negate the fact that I just suggested getting a kindle but there are still people, like myself, who still like to buy (or borrow from the library) the physical books. Truly, there's nothing like it. Buying a bookmark for the book lover is the greatest thing ever. There are so many to choose from and make sure to personalize them. I have so many bookmarks it’s actually insane, but I also don’t feel like I have enough.
Gift Cards- This right here is the holy grail. Personally, I could go for a Starbucks gift card, or an Amazon for my (future) kindle *insert winking emoji*. For the book lovers, a Barnes and Noble gift Card would be great too, but again, this is a personalized thing. If they like makeup but you don’t know what to necessarily buy, a Sephora (or Ulta) gift card just might be your best bet. Into video games? Buy them a Nintendo e-shop gift card, a Game stop Gift card, etc. Point is, there are hundreds of different gift cards to buy and all of your choosing.
Hanging Shelves- If you haven’t already noticed, there's a common theme here that keeps circling back to uhm…well…books (lol). Something I really need is space. I cannot stress enough that my room is getting smaller by the book. I have so many books and literally not one inch of space left to put them in. I’m a book of the month subscriber and every month I get sent a new book and they literally go right back into the box after I read them. I have an entire stack of boxes in the nook between my drawers and my actual bookshelf that is on the brink of no return from the amount of stuff on it.
Personalized Gift Box- One of my favorite things to do is collect a bunch of small items that remind me of a specific person to put it all together and make a gift box. I find this to be the least expensive option as well. Whenever I receive one of these, it really warms my heart. It’s pretty cool sorting the items and seeing how people view you or what reminds them of you. Stocking stuffers will be your best friend. Give yourself a budget and head over to Target's five & under section and pick out a sock or two. The Body Shop has great holiday deals for their mini’s (travel sized items). Go to the supermarket and buy their favorite snack. Maybe add a small candle and if they’re a crystal lover, get a crystal that you find suits them best. Just ask an associate for help and they will lead the way.
Book of the Month- Again, you might see a reoccurring theme here. BUT this one is not for me, as I already have it because I am such a book worm. However, for the people out there who have a loved one who is a reader, and you’re not sure what to get them, here is the perfect gift. Book of the Month is a monthly subscription where they offer you a book of your choosing- each a different genre- every month for $15.99 a month. Don’t like the options given for that month? No problem. They will apply it as a credit to your account for the following month or you can choose a book from previous months. And for the hardcover lovers out there, you’re in luck cause every book sent out to you is strictly hardcover. With each book received you’ll get a cute bookmark for the book- which we all know is a necessity. Want to sign you or a friend up? Click here.
If you didn't already notice, this is a great gift guide for the book lovers of the world. But don't be discouraged. As mentioned, there are things on this list that can be personalized to whoever it is you want to get a gift for. And PLEASE remember, that this is not supposed to be a stressful process, but a fun one.
HAVE FUN AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS! <3
