Yes, you read that title correctly, and yes, I am disgusted myself.

The year that shall not be named was supposed to be the year that everyone prospered and did all the fun things on their list and all that good new year stuff. There were so many concerts lined up. Everyone was ready. I was ready. We were ready to conquer the world… and then the covid said no.

When it was announced that live shows were coming back, I was beyond excited. There were so many people I wanted to see but then everything was rescheduled for 2022- except for one show.

I have been listening to lovelytheband for the last four years and on December 1st, 2021, I finally got the opportunity to see them live at Irving Plaza and let me just say, they can put on a show!

The LA based band is made up of three members: Mitchy Collins- lead singer, Sam Price- drums, and Jordan Greenwald- guitar. In 2017, the band released their song “Broken” and it took off. Since then, they’ve dropped one EP, Everything I Could Never Say (2017) and two albums, Broken (2018) and Conversations with Myself About You (2020).

This was a special date for the band being that the lead singer, Mitchy Collins, is from New Jersey, and had a bunch of his friends and family out for the show. It genuinely warmed my heart. You could kind of spot out a lot of people that you just knew were his family and saw how happy and proud they were. Not only that, but they were genuinely just having such a great time. The singer also went on to tell everyone how having this show around the holiday season was special for him because every year on New Years, he’d go on his Facebook and would post that this year was going to be the year that his band would make it before saying “tonight, it feels like my band made it”. Again, it warmed my heart. Being someone who knows people who are in bands, and seeing how much music means to them and how getting their songs out there for the world to see, it really makes my heart full when bands actually acknowledge their fans and the hard work that gets put into creating music and bringing a show to life. I had the absolute time of my life.

Now, I couldn’t jump around or go nuts, as I am still fighting off a small cold due to my extremely inflamed sinuses, but it didn’t stop me from singing my lungs out as much as I could. I literally cannot thank my friend, Litzi, enough for getting us these tickets. I kind of forgot what it was like to have such an amazing and vibrant energy like that surrounding you. I miss the excitement and rowdiness of a show and I just cannot wait to go to more.

Who do you look forward to seeing this upcoming year? Let me know in the comment section!
