Every year for Thanksgiving, like many others, my family goes all out with cooking. Growing up, we went to about two or three houses before the main event in the evening. So it's safe to say me and my brother ate A LOT. As I grew older, seeing so many people in one day started to slowly fade away, but I made new friends who were always down for a friendly food eating competition. Those always ended up with one of us feeling like we were about to explode, but there was always room for desert!
Thanksgiving is the day where we reflect on the years and think about what we are most thankful for. I know that's hard for a lot of people to do because not everyone wants to think about the past, but I'd be lying if I said I couldn't look back at all this year. A lot happened. Some good, some bad, and some were just things I never thought would happen in a million years. And I'd like to share that with everyone.
With that being said, here are a couple of things I am most grateful for.
1. TRAVELLING: One of the many things I have always been grateful for is travelling. I love the thought of going to different cities, states, and countries. It's so cool to see how different each place is. Their customs, their food, the art, the architecture, it's history- it's all just so beautiful. Growing up, I always went to the same places. Florida, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, P.A., and all the other states my family lives in. But I wanted to just see more and this year I finally got to do just that. It's no secret that my dream destination was the United Kingdom and at the beginning of November, I got the privilege of flying over to the land of tea (lol). It was such a beautiful place and I plan to go back and see the rest of the U.K., but I'm beyond grateful for just seeing and experiencing what I did. I can't wait to share this trip with you guys. London blog coming to you soon ;)
2. MY FRIENDS: I am one hundred percent one of those people who know many people but only call few of them my friends. Each of who have been the most amazing people to me. I am so proud to have them in my life and beyond grateful for everything they have done for me in the time that I have known them. Some longer than others, but nonetheless, a great amount of time. They have listened to me cry, scream, laugh, and never hesitated to give me a helping hand. They are the most encouraging and honest people I have ever met in my life and I am so grateful to know that I have people I can turn to and say anything without judgement and expect pure honesty in return. They have never held back from me and I thank god everyday for their friendship.
3. MY FAMILY: The year that shall not be named and 2021 were honestly some of the most hard-hitting years for me. I have gained strength like no other and have broken down more than ever. My family has suffered great losses and have been hit by reality extremely hard. After losing my grandfather, I didn't think it was possible to feel that kind of pain again. I am someone who is very aware of death, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. At the start of this year, I found out some serious news about my family that I didn't think would ever happen but it did. It's sad to say that it took all of this for me to grow closer to everyone, but you don't realize how much something means to you until its about to be ripped out of your hands. I am grateful for every moment and laugh I have had with my family. This anger me like no other, but I wouldn't trade them for any other.
4. MY SISTER-COUSINS: I am someone who is lucky enough to call my closest cousins my sisters and my best friends. I'm not sure how I would've gotten through the last couple of years, or my whole life really, without them. There is no one in the world who could possible compare to these three ladies. Everyone who knows me know that they are my life. Yes, we all irritate each other in some shape, way, or form, but they are the ones who I could always rely on. No one can make me laugh, cry, or any other emotion like these girls can. Everyday I feel like the luckiest person alive being able to call them my family.
I would love nothing more but than to hear what you guys are most grateful for!
