TOP 5 READS OF 2021

When I read, the world around me stops moving and I'm placed in a bubble of silence. Nothing else matters outside of the words on the page. When I read, I am at peace.

Something that’s important to know about me is how much I love to read. I don’t think any of my friends have witnessed me without a book in hand and flipping off anyone who tries to interrupt my reading sessions. For the past ten months, I have laughed, and I have cried. I have screamed and have ripped my poor little hairs out. I have been left with my heart ready to burst at any given moment. And I have definitely recorded those moments and shared it on my instagram stories for all the beautiful humans to see. Surprisingly enough, instead of getting responses where my friends make fun of me for being an emotional wreck, I get questions about the current book I’m reading and if I have any other recommendations.

If you’re a fan of romance books, my answer to these questions are always the same:

UGLY LOVE

BY COLLEEN HOOVER

Colleen Hoover didn’t have to write something so dang heart-wrenching, but let me tell you, she did just that. There are not enough words in the world to explain what I was feeling when I got through that last page and finished the book. The minute I picked it up, I didn’t have the physically capability of putting it back down. I needed to keep reading and with every word I read, I died a little bit. Colleen Hoover has written so many beautiful pieces, and she has quickly become one of my favorite authors, but this one is 100% number one on my list.

THE HATING GAME

BY SALLY THORNE

You guys, I don’t even know where to start with this book. It’s a solid 10/10 for me! The Hating Game is a CLASSIC enemies to lovers novel and I PROMISE it’ll leave you wanting more. It is literally *chefs kiss* and will completely set the tone for the kind of author she is. Sally Thorne does NOT hold back. This quirky read will have your heart pumping like no other. There will be times where you find yourself cracking up and other times where you find yourself wanting to strangle Lucy and Joshua. This is by far the funniest book I have read in 2021 and I hope you will all feel the same!

THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS

Okay, I know I just said that The Hating Game was one of the funniest books I have read this year, but this book comes pretty damn close to it. I did not expect to actually like this book. At first I was just like “I don’t know man, where the heck is this going?” Then I kept reading and I was HOOKED. Here I thought I was about to read such a cheesy book, instead, it was funny as hell and I will admit, a bit sexy. If you know me, you know I hate that word, but it's the honest truth.

The Grumpy x Sunshine / Faking Dating trope is so popular and after reading this book, I fully understand why. I was left speechless. The Love Hypothesis was truly a great example of when someone says

“never judge a book by it’s cover.”

BEACH READ

Let me just start by saying that Emily Henry is a PHENOMENAL writer. If you haven't read her book People We Meet on Vacation, I strongly urge you to do so. However, that is not the book we will be focusing on.

Beach Read was circulating EVERYWHERE. Every book store I went to, every book recommendation video I watched on YouTube, TikTok, etc., it was there. Staring right at me and I was reluctant to read it. It had been on my TBR for so long that I was truly convinced that I wouldn’t actually get around to reading it. Out of all the books I wanted to read, nothing was really calling out to me in that very moment, so when I scrolled down towards Beach Read, I literally just said fuck it and ordered it. Y'all, I did not know what I was in for. When I tell you this book left me on my toes… holy hell. It got STEAMY! I did not expect to read what I did. This was honestly such a jaw dropping book that deserved the hype it got. If there is one book from this list that I think you should go for ( aside from Ugly Love cause WOW), it would be this one. I promise, you won't regret it.

IT ENDS WITH US

Please make sure that when you pick up this novel, you also buy a box a tissues to keep at your bedside while you read. It Ends With Us is such a heavy one and will completely break your heart. Again, it will hurt you. It's actually impossible to not shed tears while reading through it. What Colleen Hoover wrote here was a novel that was so raw and jam-packed with so much emotion. Every word, page, and chapter will shock you to the core. It's all so completely unexpected. If you decide to go through with reading this book, the only thing that I ask of you all is to take your time with reading it and soak in every bit of this piece amazingly written piece of work.
